Ellen J. Andrews' Obituary
Ellen J. Andrews, 74, of Elyria, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was born November 7, 1949, to the late Charles J. and Beatrice I. (Swarts) Andrews in Barberton Ohio.
Ellen is survived by William (Bill) Jordan, “the love of her life” for over 50 years; sibling Richard C. (Patty) Andrews; Nieces: Sheryl Andrews; Shannon (Troy) Miller; Stephanie (Tim) Adams; Sarah (Dana Mills) Monroe, 11 great nieces and nephews, one great-great nephew. She also leaves behind many cousins and friends. While we family and friends mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched and memories we hold dear.
Ellen graduated from Barberton High School in 1967. She attended Otterbein College graduating in 1971 with a major in-Home Economics and Education. She also earned a Master's Degree from Baldwin Wallace College. She taught at Elyria High School in the Home Economics Department for 41 years. She was a chairperson for the department for 30 years. Ellen took pride in each students’ progress and success. Ellen was a true “Mary Poppins,” always having what was needed for any occasion.
Ellen was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Gamma chapter for more than 24 years. She was involved with the Lorain County Historical Society for more than 20 years. She would help plan Christmas Galas and co-chairing the annual Valentine Tea. Ellen had a passion for antique and vintage doll collecting. She also enjoyed playing Tennis. Ellen along with Bill, Tom and Carol enjoyed ski trips in the winter and sailing in the summers. After retiring Ellen became an active member of the Lorain County Retired Teachers Association.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM, where family and friends will gather from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070.
