Evelyn Rose Matysiak's Obituary
Evelyn Rose Matysiak (Soeder), 90 of Brook Park, Ohio passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, April 25, 2020. Born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Edwin and Antonia Soeder. Evelyn was married to her sweetheart Roman for almost 67 years. She adored her family and was the mother of Karen (Gary) Bellisario and Barbara (late Kenny) Whitcomb; grandmother (Oma) of Tom (Susan) Bellisario, Jennifer (Aaron) Bush, Kimmy (Milos) Petrovic, Rachael (Doug) Zimlich, Katie (Daniel) Bellisario-Allen and Colleen (Richie) Whitcomb-Hardie. Great-Grandmother ("Oma Honey") of Thomas and John Bellisario; Alex and Charlotte Bush; Nick, Madelyn, Nolan and Henry Petrovic; Joshua and Lukas Zimlich and Benjamin Hardie. Dear sister of the late Benno Soeder (Rosemary). She was also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many cherished friends.
Evelyn was a member of the German singing group the Heights Damenchor for over 70 years and a member of the St. Bridget's Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was honored as Brook Park's citizen of the year in 2012 and also German-American Woman of the year. She was an avid knitter and crocheter and has touched the hearts of many people with shawls and blankets she made. She loved baking (especially at Christmas) and always brought a little something to share with those she loved.
Evelyn was known to everyone as "Oma" and will be remembered for her deep love and dedication to her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2020 from noon until 2:00 pm at the Sunset Chapel located at 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. Friends and family are welcome and asked to wear a mask. Funeral services will begin immediately after and burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
Donations made to the family will be used for the medical care of Evelyn's great-grandaugher Charlotte Bush.
