Frank M. Radio's Obituary
Frank M. Radio, 87, of Avon Lake, was born on October 7, 1936, to the late Frank and Ann (nee Kobunski) Radio.
Frank passed away on March 22, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Arlene D. Radio for more than 55 years. Cherished father of Michelle (Rocky) Salvador, James (Diane) Rodio, and Gina (Mark) Svat. Loving grandfather of Gina Salvador, and Mia, Dominic and Laura Rodio. Dear brother of the late Bettie Ballard (James, deceased). Devoted son-in-law, brother-in-law, cousin, uncle, and friend to many.
Frank earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Ohio University. He served in the Army and the Army Reserve, with an honorable discharge in 1965. He worked for the Cleveland City School District, initially as a physical education teacher and later as an assistant principal and principal. After retirement from the school district, Frank worked in management for several companies, including the insurance agency of his cousin Joe and wife Gloria. He also worked alongside his cousin Ron in his construction business.
He was a sports fan and enjoyed time with family, conversation, gardening, yardwork, handyman projects, golfing, playing basketball, and a great meal (or two). He was a proud member of the Phi Kappa fraternity, maintaining friendships with many of his brothers for nearly 70 years. Frank and Arlene organized an annual fraternity golf outing for many years, and later a monthly luncheon, that helped the group stay connected. A true family man, Frank always will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
