I feel a loss of a friend. We worked for the same boss at Energizer for a little while, and have met about once a year or more ever since. We could talk science, politics, religion, current affairs, and I'll miss those low-key friendly sessions. Dick Middaugh
I'm so sorry to hear of Frank's passing. I remember meeting him at a dinner hosted by the VP of Technology/Development at UCC Battery Products in 1976. We instantly saw eye to eye, as we were the two shortest guys there! I was really impressed how enthusiastic he was about his project, non-aqueous electrolytes. I was shocked to see the notice several years later, announcing his promotion to Project Manager. My first thought was "this is not going to end well!", Frank was a calm, honest, gentleman and simply too nice a guy, qualities that were useless in that position, especially after we were sold to the dogs. I had the pleasure to work for Frank briefly in 1988 and I will always remember how he bravely rode with me from the Maryville Plant to the KC Airport and back one evening to fulfill the idiotic orders of our Technical Manager. Frank didn't have to go, and may have regretted his decision, as I drove most of the way well over the speed limit. He never complained as I passed traffic on the dark and winding road. I regret not contacting him after Energizer pulled the carpet out from under him. I would told him what a great guy he was and how I enjoyed working with him.
