Franklin "Frank" Sass' Obituary
Franklin “Frank” Sass, age 91, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his loving wife's arms on June 19, 2025. Born on July 31, 1933, to the late John Sr. and Ida Mae Sass, Frank lived a life of resilience, creativity, and love for family.
Frank served his country as a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War. Beyond his military service, he was a man of quiet craftsmanship and natural beauty. He lovingly built a pond surrounded by a kaleidoscope of flowers—every kind imaginable—and handcrafted birdhouses that brought joy to his days and shelter to countless songbirds. His eye for detail and gentle spirit made him a true artisan at heart.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Nancy (née Custer) Sass; his beloved son, David Ray Sass; his grandchildren Jamie Allen Sass and Autumn Dunaway; his cherished great-granddaughters, Mikayla and Amelia Sass. daughter-in-law, Linda (née Ansell) Sass; He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who were touched by his warmth and wisdom.
He now reunites with his dearly missed children—Franklin Allen, Allen Ray, Scott Douglas—as well as his siblings Martha, Olga May, George, Evelyn, John, Bertha, Theadore, James, Charles, Anna, Ida, Dolly, and Rosemarie and his granddaughter-in-law Jessica Sass.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, Ohio, with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel.
