Frederick W. Smith's Obituary
Frederick W. Smith, 78, passed away peacefully in his loving wife’s arms on May 22, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with illness.
He was born on March 10, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Michael and Mary Smith (née Haruck). Frederick carried with him a strong sense of family, hard work, and kindness throughout his life.
Frederick was the devoted and loving husband of Renee Smith (née Frey), with whom he shared 51 beautiful years of marriage. Their life together was built on deep love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
He is survived by his wife, Renee Smith and also his dear siblings, George Smith and Irene Albers; four nephews; three nieces; and many beloved great-nephews and great-nieces.
Frederick was self-employed as a property manager and was a dedicated member of the Lake Erie Landlord Association. He took pride not only in his work but also in the relationships he built along the way.
He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures by tending to his gardens, cooking meals to share, riding his bicycle, watching the birds, and traveling to new places. He also had a lifelong passion for cars, always enjoying learning and talking about them. Whether outdoors or at home, Frederick appreciated the beauty in everyday moments.
Those who knew Frederick will remember him as kind, steady, and deeply caring, a man who was always willing to lend a hand. His gentle spirit and warm heart left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
