Gene Gray Norris, 85 of Strongsville, Ohio, La Quinta California and Las Vegas Nevada passed away peacefully in his sleep Jan. 19, 2015 with his daughters nearby. Oldest son of Marian Gray Norris (deceased) and Elias Harry Norris (deceased); brother of Joan Dorch (deceased), and Malcom (Katie) Norris and Sally Higgins; loving husband of Marilyn (nee Gensamer); dear father to Rebecca Roulette Butterfield ( Gregg), Thomas Norris (Joan), Janine Kaltenstein (deceased)(Louis), Georgia Alexander (Bradley); grandfather of Beau Roulette (Kendra), Drew Roulette, Jennifer Norris (Michael), Matthew Norris, Chad Kaltenstein (Meghan), Jeffrey Kaltenstein (Kristen), Jesse Alexander (Stephanie), Emily Alexander, Zachary Alexander, Nicholas Alexander (deceased); great grandfather of Autumn Marie Offenberger, Louis McKinlay Kaltenstein and Bernadette Jane Kaltensten. Born in Berea, Ohio and attended Berea High School along with his first wife Carol Jean Lang. Attended Bowling Green University and learned to fly in the Navy, he married Carol in August 1949. Served as President of the Berea School Board of Education in the 1960’s, building many schools as well as founding one of the earliest Vocational Education school, Polaris Vo Ed. He also served as a trustee on the Ohio State School Board. A lifelong Automobile dealer, Norris was .
Past President of the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Assn. and Trustee of the Ohio Automobile Dealers Assn., a Past President of Columbia Hills Country Club. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. His passions beside his family were golf, skiing, sailing, fishing and being a mentor to many young people launching numerous careers.
