George B. Cooper's Obituary
George B. Cooper, age 91, of Westlake, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2017.
George was born on Lakewood, OH on January 6, 1926 to the late Homer and Florence (nee Grostick) Cooper. He is loving husband of 70 years to Eleanor (nee Kuehls) Cooper; brother of Homer, Leroy and Janet (all deceased); cherished uncle of many.
George was a proud veteran of the United States Navy Air Corps and served during WWII. During his time in the Navy, he specialized in photography, but for his livelihood, he worked for many years as a meat cutter for the A & P grocery store chain. He and his wife Elly were young school mates who enjoyed a lifetime together of dancing and numerous volunteer projects, such as Meals on Wheels. George was well loved and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 4 – 8 PM at the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd. North Olmsted, OH 44070. Funeral services are to be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017, 11 AM at Brooklyn Heights United Church of Christ, 2005 W. Schaaf Rd., Cleveland, OH 44109. Procession to cemetery will immediately follow where full military honors will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brooklyn Heights United Church of Christ.
