Gerald William Carino's Obituary
Gerald William Carino, 85, of North Ridgeville, OH, passed away with family by his side on January 16, 2022. Born in Wellington, Ohio to Guy and Helen Carino, Gerald was a bright and athletic boy who excelled in baseball. After he graduated Wellington High School in 1955, he attended Bowling Green State University, graduating in 1959. He was a patriotic American, serving in ROTC at Bowling Green State University and then 4 years post graduation, achieving the rank of Captain. He married his wife, Heidemarie, in 1965, and they had four children. Gerald worked for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. for over 35 years. He was a loving father and a devoted husband, and he missed his wife dearly since her passing. Gerald valued education substantially and encouraged its pursuit in his family.
He loved baseball, golf, Cleveland sports teams, going to Las Vegas with his wife, his dog, Winston, but he loved his family the most. Gerald leaves behind his sister, Sandy Carino of Indianapolis, IN; children: Peter (Melissa) Carino of Atlanta, GA, Heidi (Doug) Kovach of Westerville, OH, Treena Carino of Naples, FL, Gerry-Ann (Tim) Stolzenburg of Perrysburg, OH; grandchildren: Lenny Strnad of Boulder, CO, Krista (Gentry) Rohn of Bay Village, OH, Nathaniel Kovach of Tipp City, OH, Alexis Carino of Quincy, MA, Nicole (Daniel) Cangelosi of Jersey City, NJ, Olivia Carino of Athens, GA, Grant Statham of Atlanta, GA, Ava Stolzenburg of Perrysburg, OH, Cecile Carino of Atlanta, GA, Warren Carino of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchild: Skylar Rohn of Bay Village, OH; sister-in-law: Brenda Carino of Litchfield, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Helen Carino of Wellington, OH, his brother, Dean Carino of Wellington, OH, and his wife Heidemarie Carino of North Ridgeville, OH.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm followed by a funeral ceremony at 12 p.m. at the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH. Gerald will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Gerald’s name to the American Cancer Society.
