Gerald Leamon's Obituary
Gerald F. Leamon, 86, of Avon Lake, peacefully passed away on July 24, 2023. He was born August 12, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Francis and Catherine (nee Blake) Leamon.
Jerry graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School in 1954. He furthered his education at Lawrence Institute of Technology earning a bachelor's degree in Management. He was a proud Marine serving in the reserves for many years. After moving from Detroit to Cleveland to work for Mobil Oil, he met Sally O’Toole where they raised their four children in Rocky River. In retirement, Jerry traveled to many parts of the world with loved ones. His happy place was his vacation house at Lakeside, Ohio where he spent two decades going to programs and having friends and family visit. After Sally passed away, he was so lucky to have met Kathy at Avenbury Lakes in Avon, Ohio where they both lived. They were married and spent many quality years traveling and enjoying each other’s company.
Jerry had so many wonderful life experiences and constantly had family and friends in his life. One of his core tenets throughout his life was his strong Catholic faith. He was active at St. Christopher’s Parish in Rocky River and both St. Joseph Catholic Churches in Marblehead and Avon Lake. Every evening Jerry would thank God for the love between Kathy and himself and he would pray for those in need.
He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, including his wife, Kathleen Leamon; children, Daniel (Ann Marie) Leamon, Michael (Ellen) Leamon, and Ann (Mark) Hardebeck; grandchildren, Patrick, Megan, Jim, Jake, Mary, Tommy, Kevin, Matthew, Will, Billy, John, and Sarah; Kathleen Leamon’s children, Nicholas (Jennifer) and their kids (Zachary, Cameron, and Gwen) and daughter Alexandra; and Gerald’s half-brother/sisters, John (Molly) Leamon, Joan Ansett, Judi Sadler; Sister-in-Law, Mary Fran Leamon; and many other extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah O’Toole; son, William Leamon; and his brothers, Thomas and James Leamon.
Friends may call from 9:00am to 10:00am on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church (32929 Lake Road, Avon Lake, OH). A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:00am. Gerald’s final resting place will be at Sunset Memorial Park (6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH).
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Joseph Catholic Church (Avon Lake) in Gerald’s memory.
