Gladys M. Mobley's Obituary
Gladys Marie Mobley, age 81, passed away on August 29, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents Chester and Marie Shrump.
Our mother led a very full life. She was married to Richard Mobley for 49 years and had five children, Karen (Robert) Barry, Cheryl (Michael) Dolohanty, Robyn (Michael) DeGennaro, Jeffrey (Laura) Mobley and Dawn (James) Dickson.
She was very proud of her thirteen grandchildren, Jennifer (Leo) Echevarria, Karina Barry, Erin (Jacob) Duran, Kevin (Lindsey) Dolohanty, Kelly (John) Durachinsky, Catherine Dolohanty, Sean Dolohanty, Meghan DeGennaro, Danielle DeGennaro, Sarah Mobley, Alyssa Mobley, Alexandria Dickson, and Tyler Dickson, and thrilled to be the great grandmother of Laila Burks, Salma Casas, Robert Leo Echevarria, Daniel Barry, Anity Duran, Addison Duran, and Colin Durachinsky.
She was a loving sister to James Shrump and sister-in-law to Diane (Kenneth) Fox, whom she considered more like a sister than in law.
She mainly enjoyed spending time with her family, be it camping, going on vacations or just getting together for a family dinner. Mom was a fantastic cook and was quite proud of her cooking prowess. She made a mean chicken paprikash and her sauerbraten, which she only made on Dad’s birthday, was the best! She loved nothing better than to sit down and have a conversation with one of her grandchildren. It gave her a thrill to know she could impart some of her wisdom on a younger generation. Mom would smile as we played a spirited game of Apples to Apples following Christmas dinner, rarely joining, as she just enjoyed observing her family having fun together. I think this made her smile more than anything.
Mom was very pragmatic. She did not like to see anything wasted, be it food or time. It was her wish that she not have a large funeral, nor did she want money spent on fancy pictures or flowers; services will be private. She believed that people should be thanked for showing kindness and making life better. If you feel inclined, it was her wish that donations be made to Hospice Services of Southwest General, 18697 Bagley Rd., Middleburg Hts., Ohio 44130-3497. They gave Mom very tender, compassionate care during her final weeks.
