Helen Marie Douglas' Obituary
Helen Marie Douglas (nee Honey), born on June 14, 1937, died peacefully on December 31, 2023, after a long illness. Helen was born in Mullinahone-Tipperary, Ireland. Helen’s parents were Thomas and Ellen Honey. She came to the U.S. in 1970. She is survived by her sisters, Stella and Theresa. Her other sisters, Bridgette, Agnes, Kay and Alice predeceased her. Both her brothers, Thomas and Michael Honey also predeceased her. Her husband, Robert Douglas also predeceased her. She is survived by her daughter Amanda Zalud, her two cherished grandchildren Jake and Macy Zalud, and her son-in-law Eric Zalud.
Helen was a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College, she worked for Lloyds Bank in England, Chase Bank, and the Cleveland Orchestra. She loved to travel and reveled in her grandchildren, Jake and Macy. Helen was gracious, charming, generous and elegant, with an ebullient, Irish flair for life. She enjoyed Harry Belafonte, Somerset Maugham and the Rolling Stones. She liked to dance in the open air, sing out loud, and see as much of the world as she could. She will be missed!
There will be a private family burial service this summer, in Banbury-Oxfordshire, England.
