Helen Jean Sima's Obituary
Helen Sima was born on March 11, 1929, to the late Michael and Mary Cap.
Helen was a founding member as well as very dedicated and a key supporter of her church, St. Mary Magdalene, where she volunteered to assist with bingo, dinner dances, bake sales, and she even sold pierogies. She was also known for her yard decorations, her ceramics, the beautiful flower garden she maintained, and for being a cat lover and rescuer. To keep her mind sharp, she enjoyed completing sudoku puzzles. Helen was a major sports fan. She supported the Cleveland Indians for over 50 years.
Helen passed away on August 3, 2023. Devoted wife of 70 years to the late Paul Sima, who she faithfully took care of until his passing last year. Cherished mother of Marilynn (Jerry) Skelton, Lori (Ron) Hilfer, Therese (Greg) Sima, and Michelle Sima. Beloved grandmother of Paul (Marji) Arjil, Melissa Adkisson, and Rachel (Joe) Cretella and great-grandmother of many. Loving sister of Irene, as well as eight siblings who preceded her in death: Steve, Ann, Ella, Frank, Mike, Kate, John, and Paul. Aunt to a host of nieces and nephews.
Parastas (service) is Monday, August 7, 2023, at 4:00 PM (30 minutes) at Sunset Funeral Services, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, where the visitation will follow immediately after until 7:00 PM. Service is Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Byzantine Catholic Church, 5390 W 220th St, Fairview Park, Ohio 44126.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary Magdalene Byzantine Catholic Church.
