Hilda Ruehr was born on September 5, 1923, to the late Franz and Maria Leblhuber in Sipbachzell, Austria and ended her life journey after 98 years in Alexandria, Virginia on April 29, 2022. Hilda raised her family in Olmsted Township and was deeply involved in her community. Everyone she touched will remember her light, her caring and selfless being, love of the natural world, cooking, baking, drawing, and painting. She was a dedicated sacristan for St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cleveland, Ohio, and an employee of Kitchen Maid Meats and Alesci’s on Cleveland’s Westside.
Hilda is survived by her loving son Frederick, daughter-in-law, Angelika, and cherished granddaughter, Annika Luisa Ruehr. She is preceded in death by her dear husband, Henry Ruehr, treasured children Evelyn Ruehr and Ernie Ruehr, and siblings Franz (Rosie) Leblhuber and Maria (Hans) Dick. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2022, from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at the chapel.
