Homer E. Cook's Obituary
Homer Cook, age 90, of Fairview Park, lately of the Residence of Chardon, passed away July 7, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer.
Homer was born July 14, 1927, in Fairview Park to Homer and Dolores (Texler) Cook. He married Ruth Dowding on June 22, 1946, and graduated from Adelbert College of Western Reserve University with a B.A. in Chemistry. He worked as an analytical chemist for Agrico, and for The Standard Roofing Company as an estimator, contractor, and ultimately president. Homer had been a Fairview Park councilman, past president of downtown Cleveland Kiwanis, treasurer of The Fairview Church, and involved in numerous volunteer civic activities, including Seaman’s Service and Reach Out And Read. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling all over the world with his wife.
Homer is survived by Ruth, his devoted wife of 72 years, children Daniel (Kathleen Krushas), Christopher (Patricia), Marilyn Rohr (Michael); grandchildren Elizabeth Charles (Kingsley), Keith Rohr, Robert, Katherine, and Lindsay Cook; great-grandchildren Logan and Evan Dillon; nephew David Cook; and cousins, Sandra Demkowicz, John and Thomas Painter. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Frank.
Visitation will be at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 25200 Lorain Rd., North Olmsted, OH 44070 on July 12, 2018 from 10-11 am, service following; interment at Sunset Memorial Park. Special thanks to the staff at The Residence of Chardon and to Hospice of the Western Reserve. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
