James Leroy Bakker's Obituary
Jim Bakker, 82, of Strongsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, and stepfather, Jim lived a life rooted in faith, family, and the quiet joys of living.
Originally from Hanford California, Jim carried with him a deep love for farm life—raising cows and pigs, enjoying home-cooked meals, and finding peace in the land. Above all, Jim was a man of faith. He loved being a Christian, and his days were often filled with reading and discussing scripture, eager to explore its meaning and apply its wisdom in his everyday life. He welcomed conversation on just about any topic, always ready to listen before sharing his uniquely thoughtful perspective.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, three daughters: Stephanie Elliott and her daughters, Marina Freeman (Shad) and Julia Maynard (CJ), their father Mark Elliott, great-grandsons, Calvin and Levi; Michelle Uguccini (Jeff) and their children, Elisa Baek (Andy), Jessica, Amanda, Gina and John James; Nicole Sowders (Ryan), her daughters, Lily and Emily; stepchildren, Walter Haggard (Cailen) and their daughter Evelyn; Kelly Haggard (Brian Kunz) daughters, Kendall and Kora, Erik Haggard (Caitlin) and their children, Julian and Amelia, and Cody Haggard (Hosanna) and their children, Leo, Ezra and Aria; and brother, Michael Johnson (Kathleen).
He was preceded in death by his parents Marinus and Lena Bakker; brother Harry Bakker (Donna), and his beloved daughter Andrea Bakker, whose memory he carried close to his heart.
Those who knew Jim will remember his kind heart, his thoughtful conversations, and his unwavering faith. His life was one of love and grace and his spirit will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
