James W. Beatty's Obituary
James W. Beatty, 84, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025. Born to the late Samuel Beatty and Bernice (née Albee) Brown in Cleveland, Ohio on July 6, 1940, James lived a life full of passion, energy, and dedication. He shared a close and devoted bond with his mother Bernice, whose unwavering love and support were a cornerstone of each other's lives.
A remarkable athlete, James earned a scholarship to Colgate University, where he excelled in sports and showcased his extraordinary talent and dedication on the field. His love for sports extended beyond his achievements—he was a fervent supporter and spectator, always encouraging others to embrace the joy of competition.
James had a deep appreciation for the universal language of music, which brought him solace and happiness throughout his life. Whether humming along to a favorite tune or soaking in the melodies around him, music filled his days with rhythm and warmth.
A devoted Christian, James's faith was a guiding light in his life, shaping his values and nurturing his spirit. He also had an adventurous soul, cherishing opportunities to travel and explore the beauty of the world.
In moments of quiet reflection, James found joy in life’s simple pleasures—a fine cigar, a glass of whiskey, and the company of those he held dear. He shared a lifelong friendship with his with his best friend, the late Brendan Mulholland, whose memory he cherished deeply.
James will be greatly missed by all his friends, including the caring staff at Carington Park, who were touched by his warmth and kindness.
A visitation will be held on Friday March 28, 2025, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. A service will take place immediately at 2:00pm in the chapel to celebrate James's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to Carington Park activities department of Ashtabula, Ohio.
