James E. Cashin's Obituary
James Edward Cashin, 65, of North Olmsted, passed away August 24, 2016.
He was born in Cleveland, the son of the late John T. Sr. and Jane E.
(Haberbosch) Cashin.
James was the youngest of three sons. He is survived by a brother, John T.
(Antoinette) Cashin, Jr.; three nephews and a niece, Christian of Alameda, CA,
Chad (Erin) of Springfield, VA, Cian (Amelia) of Falls Church, VA, and Chaya (Nate)
Zahn of Arlington, VA; two grand-nieces and a grand-nephew.
James was raised in North Olmsted and Rocky River, graduating from high school
in 1969. He attended Lorain Co. Community College for two years and earned a BA
from Cleveland State University.
For twenty-five years, James was a probation officer for Cuyahoga County, and for five
more years was a licensed polygraph examiner for the department, retiring in 2004 with
thirty years of service.
After retiring, he opened his own polygraph business, Associated Lie Detection, which
he ran out of offices in Rocky River, Berea, and North Olmsted, retiring about five
years ago. He was also a certified locksmith and self-taught plumber.
He was the president of the Country Club Condominium Association for eight years.
James was his mother’s primary caregiver when she became very ill, until her passing
in 2008.
James enjoyed travel, especially by train, his pets, and classical music, especially opera.
He also enjoyed spending time on the property his family owned in Southeastern Ohio.
