Jim O'Connor, beloved husband, father, son, and friend, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Magda Gomez; his cherished children, daughter Lissette Gomez and son Brian Gomez; his beloved mother, Janice O'Connor; his sister, Anne Slucky (Alex); and his niece and nephew, Katherine and Peter Slucky. He was preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" O’Connor.
An avid runner, Jim dedicated the last 30 years of his life to the sport. He successfully completed marathons, half marathons, and even the grueling Ironman triathlons. His passion for running was more than just a hobby—it was a testament to his perseverance, discipline, and love for physical challenges. Jim's commitment to running inspired many, and he formed lasting friendships with fellow runners who shared his enthusiasm.
Jim was also a passionate outdoor enthusiast. He loved bird hunting with his friends and spent countless hours exploring the great outdoors with his family. Whether RVing, hiking, rafting, biking or canoeing, Jim's adventurous spirit and love for the wilderness were always evident.
Jim's professional life was marked by his dedication and excellence as the Director of Planning for Pulte Homes. His colleagues respected him for his expertise, leadership, and unwavering commitment to his work.
Jim O'Connor's legacy is one of love, adventure, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A celebration of Jim's life will take place at the Westwood Abbey Mausoleum in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, OH on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 12:00 AM. Family will receive friends after 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
