James Watkins' Obituary
James R. Watkins, 85, of Cleveland, Ohio passed away on May 13, 2022. He was born on May 29, 1936 in Stewart County, Tennesse. Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. In his spare time, he enjoyed a good game of bowling and a great round of golf. He also spent many hours cultivating his garden and enjoying the fruits of his labor. Jim will be fondly remembered as a dedicated family man. He raised seven children with fairness, love, and great care. He strived to be honorable and respectful and expected the same in return.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Della Marie (nee Slone) of 45 years; loving children Mary (Gordon) Gilley, Vickie (Andrew) Stevens, James (Tammy) Watkins, Dwayne (Juliette) Susak, Phillip (Kimberlin) Susak, Joseph (Tammy) Susak, and Ken (Michele) Watkins; treasured grandfather of 16; cherished great-grandfather of 21; and dear great-great grandfather of 1. He was reunited in heaven with his father James Lester Watkins, mother Polly (nee Wallace) Hutton, and stepfather George Hutton.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 24, 2022 from 5-8 PM at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 12 noon at the chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to Cleveland Baptist Church, 4431 Tiedeman Rd, Cleveland, OH 44144.
