Jane Pauline Goetz's Obituary
Jane P. Goetz, age 98, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in Westlake, Ohio. Jane was born August 18, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio to Anna and Hugh Burnett. She was married to Fred W. Goetz for 47 years until his passing in 1992. She is also predeceased by infant daughter Nancy Jane Goetz and dear cousin, William Domke, as well as a loyal Dachshund, Nixie who is most likely on her lap now. Those remaining to love her and her memory are daughter, Linda Goetz Fradley (Edward)of Brevard, NC, grandsons Jason Frederick McKenzie, Todd Burnett McKenzie and Michael G. Fradley (Jamen Voss), great grandchildren Sandra J. McKenzie, Hugh Wyatt McKenzie, and Madison Fradley -Voss. Also, granddaughters -in -love, Rachelle Scott (Jason) and Katrina Charles (Todd).
Jane grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and married her John Marshall Highschool sweetheart, Fred. They later became Florida residents as well and maintained homes in Sarasota, Florida and Westlake, Ohio. As a child the Cleveland Press called her “Cleveland’s youngest toe dancer”, and she loved to dance through her whole life. As a young woman she was active in Rainbow Girls and then Order of the Eastern Star. While waiting for her new husband to return from the Army Air Corps overseas, she worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. Later living in Fairview Park, she joined Fairview Grace Church and became the longest standing member at the time of her death, remaining active as long as she could but never losing contact. She held her belief in God for all to see.
Jane was a member of the Cleveland Athletic Club where she chaired many women’s committees and bowled up a storm. She enjoyed the game of golf at Westwood Country Club, Riverside Golf Course, and Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club in Sarasota where she lived facing the 7th fairway. She volunteered for Reach for Recovery through the American Cancer Society, and worked by appointment at Hastings Home Health helping mastectomy patients. Occasionally she worked with her husband at his business, Fred Goetz Jewelry, in downtown Cleveland. She was a member of Phi Theta Delta Sorority, a national charitable organization with a lovely group of women who she called sisters. They are all together again.
Jane was a loving mother who was always there to lend a hand in so many ways. She doted on being Nana to her “grands”, and to their friends as well. She was “Auntie” to many. She was social and funny and enjoyed telling stories, true or fictional, to anyone who would listen. She had a way of making people feel good. She loved being with friends and relatives and perhaps cheering on the Cleveland Indians, walking Siesta Beach, playing her ukulele or kazoo, poking through estate sales for a treasure or sharing a cold beer after golf or work in her lovely yard.
