Janet Marie Potantus' Obituary
Janet Marie Potantus, 84, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024. She was born on May 2, 1940, to the late Albert and Mary Jupina.
Janet was preceded to Heaven by her beloved husband, Andrew Potantus, whom she married on October 17, 1964. Together, they built a beautiful life and family.
She is survived by her loving children, Barbara (Bill) Meyers, Mark (Brenda Rarick) Potantus, and Matthew (Carolyn) Potantus. Janet was a proud grandmother to Joseph (Traci) Kean, Ryan (Vanessa) Kean, Stephanie (Mo) Najar, Bill (Kristin) Meyers, Jaclyn (Russ) DeTullio, Noah (Kylie-Jo) Potantus, and Hannah Potantus. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Brianna, McKenna, Coby, Wyland, Jaxon, Allie, and Archie.
Janet is also survived by her sister, Betty Rados, and her siblings-in-law, Bill Rados and Annie Jupina. She was also survived by her late husband’s sister, Barbara (John) Smithrick. She was preceded in death by her siblings Nancy Jupina, Elaine Rados, and Raymond Jupina, as well as her siblings-in-law John Lyons and Chuck Rados, and her late husband’s brother Kenneth Potantus.
Janet was a woman of strong faith and a devoted member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Ohio. She cherished her family and grandchildren, always putting them at the center of her life. Janet was dedicated to her home and took great joy in working in her yard and flower gardening.
She and her husband enjoyed many road trips together, visiting casinos, Amish Country, Niagara Falls, and Windsor. They were also proud members of the Avon Lake American Legion. In her later years, Janet found joy in rides along the lake and visits to the Metro Parks with her son Matt.
Janet’s warmth, love, generosity and dedication to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m., with graveside service to follow.
