Jean Marie Renslow's Obituary
Jean Marie Renslow went to be with our Lord on February 6, 2025. She was a dear sister to Carol Peddie and beloved mother of Scott Renslow (Laura), Kelly Childress (Deron) and John Renslow (Michelle), as well as grandmother to 18 grandchildren, who include Tyler, Bryce, Grace, Aiden, Mason, Everett and Presley Renslow, Sedrick and Sydney Childress, and Allen, Summer, Evann, Owen, Ian, Eddie, Katie, Shane and Alle Renslow. She also had ten great-grandchildren.
Jean was born in Cleveland, Ohio to John and Ethel Peddie on March 31, 1937. At the age of five, she was introduced to the piano by her mother with the purchase of a Spinet piano. This started a love for music that led her to playing the clarinet at Lakewood High School and ultimately achieving her music degree from Baldwin Wallace College, where she excelled at piano, string bass and voice. Upon earning her degree, she moved to Los Angeles where she continued her musical career through giving private music lessons to students of all ages. After meeting her husband and giving birth to Scott, the family moved south to Escondido where they settled and within a few years, welcomed Kelly and John into this world. Jean built a new student base in the area as well as playing piano and organ at a local church. After her children, teaching music and playing music for the Lord became her lifelong passion. One enjoyable time of her career was her many years serving as the accompanist for the Rancho Bernardo Chorale, which included one concert where she directed the group and had a blast doing it.
In all, Jean taught or played music her entire life, which included 68 years as choir director, pianist, or organist at various churches. She will always be remembered for her love of family and friends, fun-loving spirit, work ethic, musical inspiration, angelic voice, and beautiful smile.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday February 27, 2025 at 2:00pm at Sunset Memorial Park. Please arrive at the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, no later than 1:45pm.
