Jerold T. “Jerry” Englehart, age 86, of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026. Born on March 31, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the cherished son of the late Edward and Hazel Englehart.
Jerry was the beloved husband of 25 years to Bette Jo Englehart (née Gurnick), whose companionship and love meant the world to him. He was a devoted father to Timothy (Connie) Englehart, Steven (Maria) Englehart, Laurel (Dave) Englehart, Susan (Mark) Ehrett, Peter (Niki) Englehart, Robert (Donna) Englehart, John (Jamie) Englehart, Joseph (Stephanie) Englehart and Joann (Mark) Englehart. He was also a caring stepfather to Bill Lorring and Stacy Schutte, and the late Tammy Konieczynski.
Jerry was a proud and loving grandfather to 19 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 6, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Englehart.
Jerry served his country honorably as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to protecting and serving his community as an officer with the Cleveland Police Department and Cuyahoga County Grand Jury, “Grand Jury Jerry”. His strength, integrity, and sense of duty defined both his professional life and his personal character.
He had a love for gardening, travel, and enjoyed exploring new places, but above all else, Jerry treasured time spent with his family at sporting events and in the backyard pool. His warmth, humor, and steadfast presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
