Jerry A. Douglas' Obituary
Jerry A. Douglas, 80, of Valley City passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 11, 1940. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Cecil Brown Douglas and Audrey Cowden; stepfather Arthur Tyler ‘Pop’; granddaughter Nicole ‘Nikki’; and siblings Dorothy and Pauline. Jerry is survived by his partner in life Laura Toth; children Sharon (Tom Volgy) Douglas, Marjorie Douglas, Jerry Douglas, Tamara (John) Coots, and Stacey Douglas; grandchildren Jerry Douglas, Dylon Heald, Matthew (Nicole) Metcalfe, and Lindsey Hernandez. Jerry enjoyed fishing, boating, and animals. He would often purchase cars at a bargain price, fix the cars, and get them to run smoothly and put them back on the street. Jerry was a big fan of the Cleveland sports team and even in his last moments was eager to watch the Cleveland Indians play. If Jerry could have it his way, he would have had the whole family and his friends over for regular backyard barbeques with steaks and hamburgers being the usual star of the show. Over the years, Jerry became a collector of many things but most important was all the laughter, smiles, and good company he shared with those around him. In the days to come, Jerry will be dearly missed.
