Joanne Gideon's Obituary
Joanne Gideon, 85, of Cleveland, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 23rd, 2023, at her home. She was born July 31st, 1937, in Cleveland to the late Henry and Edna (nee Shepherd) Marino.
She graduated from John Marshall High School, and furthered her education at John Adams School of Nursing. Joanne worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years at Fairview Hospital until she retired. We will remember her for her loving and caring nature to everyone. Joanne was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she loved getting to take care of her grandchildren. Also, her great-grandchildren whom she adored, and they adored her. She was known for always hosting holiday dinners, family picnics, and other family gatherings. After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed spending time traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 62 years, Frank Gideon.
She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory, including her children, James (Cheryl) Gideon and Sandra Brown; grandchildren, Casandra Brown, William (Vanessa) Brown, Melanie (Joshua) Kugel, and Valerie (Tyler) Kette; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Miller; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family members and friends.
A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held Friday, June 30th, 2023, from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH 44070. A Funeral Service will immediately follow beginning at 12:00PM officiated by Chaplain Chuck Behrens. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, Ohio.
