John Robert Compton, Jr.'s Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John R. Compton, Jr.
He fought valiantly against multiple ailments over many years but lost that fight on January 15, 2024.
John Robert Compton was born on March 22, 1946, in Palestine, Texas. His family moved to Ohio when he was very young. He grew up in his beloved Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Walnut Hills High School, where he was a basketball star. After graduation, he furthered his education on a full basketball scholarship to BGSU. He was very proud to be part of the 1969 MAC Championship team under coach Bill Fitch. John married his college sweetheart, Pamela Ann (Hoffman) Compton, and fathered four beautiful children. After the family was complete, he secured his MBA from Baldwin Wallace College. He was a successful businessman in the Financial Services Industry achieving a CFP title. While active himself, playing men’s slow pitch softball with his kids playing in the dirt by the stands, he was a coach and mentor to his children’s many sports as well as many other youngsters in his lifetime. Growing up as a Preacher’s kid, he always maintained a devout love for his Disciple of Christ faith. John was a great provider, father, uncle and grandfather and will be missed every day.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John R. Sr. and Lucile A. Compton. John leaves to mourn, his wife Pamela, his children Kendra S. Compton (Iris Jones), Shonda R. Compton, Daniel A. Compton (Yvette) and Todd M. Compton (Gianina), sister Lenita J. (Compton) Bunch and Brother-in-law Bruce E. Bunch, 9 grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews, and 4 great nieces and nephews. Also brother-in-law Mark Hoffman (Lynn) and sister-in-law Colette L. (Hoffman) Wong (Tim).

This program helped John and Pam over the past two – three months. Flowers are welcome and should be sent to the church for the service: Dover Congregational UCC, 2239 Dover Center Road, Westlake, Ohio 44145.
Visitation Hour will take place at the church from 10:30 - 11:30 AM on Friday, January 19, 2024, where the service will begin at 11:30 AM. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the service.
