John C. Gaydos' Obituary
John C. Gaydos, aged 93, of North Olmsted, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024. Born to George and Catherine (nee Dorok) Gaydos on May 4, 1931, John’s life was marked by his dedication to his family, his passion for aviation, and his service to his country.
John was the beloved husband to the late Elaine (nee Gresmuck) Gaydos. John is lovingly remembered by his children, Karen (Mark deceased) Lorello, Bryan Gaydos, and Jeff (Dawn) Gaydos; his grandchildren, Joseph (Kristyn) Lorello, Jonathan (Ewa) Lorello, Lindsey (Drew) Lindak, Jesse Prem, and Shannon Prem; and his great-grandchildren, Emma, Murphy, Elliott, Illa, Leon, and Rae. He also leaves behind his brother, David Gaydos.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, George, Joe, Phyllis, and Kathleen.
A proud veteran, John served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War for four years. Following his service, he embarked on a 35-year career with IBM, where his ingenuity and problem-solving skills led to a fulfilling retirement.
John’s hobbies included building detailed airplane models and he was known among friends and family as a huge airplane enthusiast who could fix anything. His home was often filled with the sounds of tinkering and the sight of meticulously crafted aircraft.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd, North Olmsted, Ohio, on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 4 pm to 8 pm. A service to celebrate John’s life will be held at the same location on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 10 am.
