John A. Hura's Obituary
John A. Hura, age 75, of Brook Park, passed away April 6, 2016 after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Born on September 16, 1940 in Cleveland to the late John and Marie Hura (nee Strouhal). Beloved husband of 47 years to Hollis (Holly) Hura (nee Milligan); wonderful father of Laura Kaiser (Rick) and Valerie Hearst; adoring grandfather of Jason, Alyssa, Braiden, Gavin and Avalon; brother of Elizabeth Brandt; uncle and great uncle of many.
John was a 1958 graduate of Rhodes High School and a 1961 graduate from Dyke Business College. John served in the Army National Guard Reserves and was active during the racial riots of the 1960s in Cleveland. The majority of John’s accounting career was at Continental Federal Savings and the Federal I.R.S., where he retired in 2007. John enjoyed his monthly breakfasts with the “Rhodes Group”, class of 1958. He was an active, long time member (64 years) of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. John also cherished his lifelong friends, “The Gang”, from his childhood and high school years.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 10, 2016, from 2-5 p.m., at the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, OH 44070 where funeral services will be held on Monday, April 11, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
