John Robert Mismas' Obituary
John R. Mismas, 87, formerly of Cleveland, passed away July 20, 2015 at his home in Las Vegas.
He was born in Cleveland, the son of the late John J. and Mary (nee Tomazic). John married Karen (nee Graves) in 1951 and together they have two sons, John E. and the late Kenneth (Carol), two grandchildren, Rachel and John J. and one great-grandson, Gavin.
He was a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs farm league and received offers to play for both the Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs. He entered the US Army and is a Korean Conflict veteran. Upon his return he worked for Automatic Stamp as an office manager retiring in 1995. People will remember him for the four years he was Santa Claus for the City of Cleveland. John was a member of the VFW Post 1974 in Parma, John W Barkley Masonic Lodge #621 F&Am in North Olmsted and Order of Eastern Star Forest City Chapter #374. He was Man of the Year for Slovenian National Home in 1997 and sang with the Parma Mother and Father singers for several years.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 1PM at the John W Barkley Masonic Lodge 621, 23844 Lorain Rd., North Olmsted. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, August 14th at 11AM at Sunset Memorial Park (Please meet at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted for 10:45AM). dostalbokas.com
