Although Uncle John was the second youngest of 11 children, he always made his presence known with his caring spirit and deep love of his family. Whenever one of us was in need, we knew Uncle John would be close by to lend a hand. When I was 2 or 3 I shared a room with my 2 older sisters. They shared a bigger bed while I was confined to my crib. I longed to be like them, so I decided to escape my crib one day. This ended with me on the floor with a gash in my forehead. My mom and Uncle John quickly came to my rescue that day, and I think of them when I look at the scar I still have on my forehead. Uncle John also had the best memory and would never let us forget the silly situations we got ourselves into.
One of my most favorite childhood memories was from Christmas when we got personalized records from “Santa and his elf”. We played that record over and over and were amazed that Santa himself was talking directly to us. Come to find out, years later, that Uncle John was our Santa.
We’re so thankful for all the memories you’ve left us with, Uncle John. You did a great job keeping us safe and always laughing.
I’d also like to thank my nephew and Uncle John’s Godson, Michael Yankovich, for the wonderful care he gave Uncle John in his later years. We are beyond grateful for you!
Love forever, Your Niece,
