John Montgomery Peecook's Obituary
John Montgomery Peecook, of Casa Grande, AZ (formerly of Avon Lake, OH), passed away at home on July 20, 2019 at the age of 87 years and 9 months.
He was born and raised in Cleveland, OH on November 4, 1931. He attended West Technical High School where he learned about the printing trade as an apprentice. He married his high school sweetheart (Janet Berghauser-deceased) and they enjoyed 49 years of marriage in Ohio and Arizona. John worked for 30 years for the Cleveland Press and the Wall Street Journal in the composing and type setting departments. Additionally, he held multiple positions for the city of Avon Lake for over 30 years; part time Policeman, Bailiff of the Municipal Court and Probation Officer. His last full-time position was Detective for the city of Avon Lake.
He is survived by brothers, Joel (Aiken, SC) and Jeffrey (Prescott, AZ) as well as his long-time companion, Jean Snow (Casa Grande, AZ). He is also survived by four sons and their spouses, Scott and Anne Peecook (Boone, NC), Mark and Sandy Peecook (Prescott, AZ), Keith and Kaye Peecook (North Ridgeville, OH), David and Sharon Peecook (Ann Arbor, MI); as well as nine grandchildren, Jason, Lisa, Lindsey, Kaitlin, Allison, Erica, Brandon, Sean, and Makenzie as well as eight great-grandchildren.
John enjoyed his family greatly and their visits to Arizona. He was an avid golfer, often successful in shooting scores “below his age.”
Visitation is 2-6 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2019, at the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, where funeral services will commence at 10 a.m., Monday, July 29. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted.
