Jack Rothermel's Obituary
John "Jack" E. Rothermel, 81, of Fairview Park, peacefully passed away on August 10, 2023. He was born May 31, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Glenn and Helen (nee Malloy) Rothermel.
Jack sang bass in various barbershop quartets and choruses around Cleveland throughout his life. He was an avid classic car enthusiast who took pride in keeping his cars in pristine condition. Jack enjoyed spending summer days boating on Lake Erie. He loved animals, but especially his dogs. You could often time him landscaping his yard or tending to his large garden. Most of all, he was a devoted father and grandfather who loved being surrounded by his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Donna and Walter Hutchings.
He is survived by his loving family, including his two children, Tim (Terry) Rothermel and Kristen (Carlos) Tomblin; grandchildren, Anna Muldowney, Alexis Kackley, Alyssa LaRocco, and Cory Tomblin; and one great-granddaughter arriving in September, Hazel Muldowney.
The family would like to thank the staff at O’Niell Healthcare in Fairview Park for their loving care of Jack.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Barbershop Harmony Society (https://www.barbershop.org/) in Jack's memory. The family would love to know that Jack’s life long passion will be encouraged and supported. This nonprofit organization provides active programs and resources in music education, publishing, performance, and community outreach.
Family and Friends may gather on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. A Catholic Prayer Service will begin at 4:00PM. The family will be hosting a reception following the services at Sunset Chapel in the lower level. His final resting place will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park, Ohio, where there will be a graveside on Thursday, August 24 at 12noon.
