Joseph S. Moses' Obituary
Joseph Samuel Moses, 84, of Brook Park, OH, moved to his heavenly home Saturday evening, May 4, 2019, surrounded by his loving family and close friends. He joined the love of his life, Shirley, who preceded him in death two years earlier after 59 years of marriage. He was an active member of Brook Park Community Church of the Brethren for 55 years. He retired from United Airlines as a foreman of aircraft maintenance with 36 years of service. After retiring from United, he started a second career as a school bus driver with the Berea City School System. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, but had lived in Brook Park for more than 50 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean War era. Following his discharge, he attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical Institute in Miami, FL, which was the beginning of his airline career. He had been a proud member for 27 years of the Retired United Airlines Employees Association (Buckeyes Chapter). During Joe and Shirley’s retirement years, they spent many winters in their RV with their friends at SeaWind RV Resort in Riviera, TX. Joe loved his family, and spending time with his children and grandchildren brought him much joy and happiness.
In addition to his wife, Shirley Ann Stone Moses, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie Moses Kunigel; parents, Clyde Moses and Lucille Moses Seals; brothers, Clyde Moses, James Moses, and Hugh Lee Seals.
He is survived by three children, Frank (Kathy) Moses, Karen (Bud) Baer, and Tom (Connie) Moses; one son-in-law, Michael Kunigel; ten grandchildren, Megan (Vinnie) Scalfani , Erin (Dan) Terwilliger; Katie (John) Tasso, Joey (Nicole) Moses, Jenny Moses, Garrett (Tessa) Baer, Vicki (Steve) Trodden, Emily Baer, Josh Moses, and Hannah Moses; eight great-grandchildren, Mia and Anthony Scalfani, Caleb Terwilliger, Emma Moses, Tommy and Maddie Baer, and Melanie and Harper Trodden; one sister, Linda Seals Lackey; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Brook Park Community Church of the Brethren. The committal service will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in North Olmsted with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Military honors will conclude the committal service.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Brook Park Church of The Brethren or to St. Jude Hospital.
