Joseph Charles Planisek's Obituary
Joseph Charles Planisek, 94, of Brook Park, Ohio, passed away on August 2, 2021. He was born on May 25, 1927 in Lakewood, Ohio, to the late Charles and Anna (Smajdek) Planisek. Joe retired from the Cleveland Hopkins Airport as Supervisor of the Maintenance Department after many decades of service. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy during World War II, having served aboard the Battleship Iowa in the Pacific, and remained an active member of the VFW. Joe will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman, spending his time hunting, camping, and for part of the year fishing in the Florida Keys. Joe will be missed by those who knew him best including his cherished canine companions. He leaves behind his dear wife Dorothy Ann (nee Nagay) of 69 years; and many nephews and nieces. Joe is preceded in death by his half-siblings Frank, Dorothy, and Helen Planisek and brother Emil (Jeanne) Planisek. A graveside service with military honors will take place on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 2:00 PM in Sunset Memorial Park. Please meet at the front entrance of the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VFW in Joe's memory.
