Joyce Hope Ables, 95, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024. Born on December 25, 1928, to the late Amanda and Matt Blanton, Joyce lived a life full of love, devotion, and service to others.
In 1948, Joyce married her beloved husband, Carl Able, who preceded her in death in 2002. Together, they raised a family with deep roots and strong bonds. Joyce was a devoted mother to her children: the late Charles Ables, the late Blaine Ables, Roy (Susan) Ables, and Jerald "Jerry" (Joanie) Ables. She was a cherished grandmother to Charles Jr., Anthony, Tracy, Brandon, Justin, Danielle, Christina, and Tiffany, and a great-grandmother to Elliot and Kaylee.
Joyce was also preceded in death by her siblings Paul Blanton, James Blanton, Doris Brummett, and Caroline DeBorde. She is survived by her loving siblings Bobby (Faye) Blanton, Beatrice Carnes, Mary (Kenneth) Gregory, Robert Blanton, and George (Cindy) Blanton.
By overcoming challenges and hardships in her life, Joyce was admired as a teacher of strength and perseverance. Known for her selflessness and her love for helping others, Joyce was a simple woman who found joy in the little things. She enjoyed baking, especially making fried pies and homemade candy, and was a devoted mother who always put her family first. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; she loved God, read the Bible every night, and found great comfort in gospel music.
Joyce's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
Funeral service will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 12:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
