Judith Martin's Obituary
Judith A. Martin, 87, of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, peacefully passed away on March 22,
2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born on October 10, 1936, she was the cherished
daughter of the late William H. and Helene (Gabella) Proudley.
After completing high school, Judith embarked on a career journey that reflected her
dedication and compassion. She initially worked at her family's print shop before serving
as a clerical assistant at Coniglia Insurance. Alongside her professional endeavors,
Judith found immense joy in her personal life. She married her first husband, Bill, and
together they were blessed with four beautiful children. The family shared countless
adventures, particularly enjoying camping and traveling in their beloved Airstream.
Later in life, Judith's devotion extended to caring for her mother, who battled Alzheimer's
disease. Despite facing the loss of her first husband, Bill, at the age of 57, Judith
continued to exemplify resilience and love. She found companionship and shared her
faith with Bob Martin, whom she married. Together, they devoted themselves to the
diaconate program, deepening their spiritual journey over four years of formation. After
Bob's passing from pancreatic cancer in 2013, Judith welcomed a new companion into
her life—a Jack Russell Terrier named Ellie, with whom she shared countless cherished
moments.
Judith's faith was the cornerstone of her life, evident in her active involvement within her
parish community. She dedicated 27 years to teaching and coordinating PSR, impacting
countless lives. As a steadfast Eucharistic Minister, she brought comfort and
communion to both church attendees and those unable to attend services. Outside of
her religious commitments, Judith found solace and expression through her talent for oil
painting, showcasing her creativity and passion.
Left to cherish Judith's memory are her children: Jeff Walker, Cathy (Tim) Blair, Joe
(Kelly) Walker, Cindi Walker, John (Catherine) Martin, Paul (Maria) Martin, Joe (Terri)
Martin, David (Lauren) Martin; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-
grandchild; her sister Pam Zavitz; and her beloved canine companion, Ellie. She is
reunited in heaven with her late husbands, Robert Martin and Billy Walker.
Judith's warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith will forever resonate with those who
had the privilege of knowing her. A funeral mass to honor her life will be held on
Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 11:30 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at St.
Mary Parish Berea, 250 Kraft Street, Berea, Ohio 44017. Judith will be laid to rest at
Holy Cross in Brookpark, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Catholic Community Foundation, 1404 E. Ninth Street Cleveland, Ohio 44114, Greater Cleveland Food Bank, 15500 S. Waterloo Road Cleveland, Ohio 44110, or St. Mary Catholic Church 250 Kraft Street Berea, Ohio 44017.
May Judith's legacy of love and devotion continue to inspire and uplift all those whose
lives she touched.
