Sometimes decades can go by without any personal contact with a dear friend from high school and yet the love, the laughter and the common understandings of life are as alive as if we were back in school once more.
The school of life was not easy for Ken, and I watched Sandy be the best friend and companion anyone could wish imagine. She offered Ken love through consistent care and compassion as life's events became more and more challenging. He seems to have walked through it with a deep karmic understanding that there were simply things he could not change.
Hopefully he knew the depth of love we felt for him in his youth and his spirit and soul are able to more easily recognize the love we have for him now that he is free from the bonds of being a spiritual being having real human challenges.
His memory makes me smile. His bravery and acceptance of the things he could not change make him a living and breathing hero even after he has left this earth-walk behind. I am grateful his spirit and soul are free as he continues to teach us all to be grateful and move through life with Grace Over Drama.
I am glad to have been one of the lucky ones who knew him in easier times.
Thank you Ken for all the laughter and unconditional love you shared with me and so many others. Noerena (Yes, Noreen to you, of course).....
