Larry Darrell Crookshanks' Obituary
Larry Darrell Crookshanks, age 86, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025. He was born on April 18, 1939, to the late Louise M. (Roy D.) Kirk. Larry lived a life marked not only by the years he spent on this earth, but by the relationships he nurtured and the hearts he touched. He was preceded in death by his beloved girlfriend, Carol McBrayer, whose companionship brought him joy and comfort. Also preceding him were his lifelong family friends, Caroline and Raymond Musser, whose bond with Larry transcended friendship and became family.
Though Larry had no children of his own, he embraced Carol’s children and the Mussers’ children as if they were his own. He was a loving father figure to Craig (Debbie, surviving), Dean (deceased), Leonard (Deborah) McBrayer, Erica Sprosty (Kurt), and Kathy Musser. His love extended to the next generation, and he cherished Christopher Musser, Nathaniel McBrayer, Ashleigh Becker, Allison Siders, Tyler Sprosty, Zach Dean, and Shayne Dean as his grandchildren in every way that mattered. Larry’s life was enriched by countless other family members and friends who he cherished dearly.
He will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the lives he shaped and the memories he leaves behind.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 10 AM – 12 PM at Sunset Legacy Funeral Home, 6265 Columbia Road, Olmsted Falls, OH 44138, where his funeral service will follow at 12 PM.
