Laszlo v. Kemes' Obituary
Laszlo v. Kemes, age 91, of Seven Hills, passed away on September 26, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents Gyorgy and Rosaria (nee Balog); his brother Joseph; and his sister Maria.
Beloved husband of 63 years to Ilona R. (nee Ambrus) Kemes; Loving father to George (Joan) Kemes, Laszlo S. Kemes and Ilona (Robert) Turnick; cherished grandfather of Katherine (Jeffrey) Clark, Karol Ann (Charles) Summer, Peter Riedl, Matthew Riedl, Christine Turnick, Adam Turnick and Suzanne Turnick; and dear great-grandfather of John (Whitney) McHue, Daniel McHue, Gabriel McHue, Bethany Clark and Juliana Turnick. Laszlo will also be missed by his 2 step grandsons Robert Turnick, Jr and Stephen (Shannon) Turnick; his brother George and his sister Magdus; and all of his family currently residing in Hungary.
In Hungary, he served in World War II as a Csendor (Royal Hungarian Military Police) and because of his heroism was inducted to the Vitezi Rend(Order of the Valiant Ones). After arriving to the United States, he was a boiler inspector at the Ford Motor Company. He then worked for The Hungarian Federation of America as a life insurance agent and worked up to Ohio District Manager. Laszlo earned his real estate license and worked for various real estate companies. Finally, he found himself employed at the City of Cleveland with the Board of Examiners, where he retired from after 21 years of service.
He was the President of the United Hungarian Societies of America for 17 years. Laszlo was also Lay president for the West Side Hungarian Lutheran Church for 50 years. He was also President of the Fraternal of Congress and was involved with many other Hungarian and political organizations through the years.
Laszlo enjoyed many activities like sporting events, Hungarian formal dances, social and political events and vacationing with family and friends; but, the most important thing was just being with his beloved wife, Ilona.
Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 NOON, on Friday, October 2, 2015, at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd, North Olmsted, where family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service time. Interment in Sunset Memorial Park immediately following.
