Laura Debelak Heckman's Obituary
Laura Debelak Heckman, age 62, of Willoughby, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026 after a short battle with a Familial CJD Disease. Born on February 19, 1964, Laura was the beloved daughter of the late James A. and Patricia A. (nee Hangach) Debelak.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kevin Mysliwczyk; her caring son, James Heckman; and loving her sisters, Colleen Debelak and Maureen (Jerry) Powers; niece and nephews, Caitlin, Sean, and Conor; and her dog K.C., who will forever cherish her gentle spirit, warm smile, and the love she shared so freely.
Laura dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked at Cleveland Clinic for 22 years, and her last position was an Assistant in the Cardiovascular Medicine Department. She went back to school and in 2018 earned her Associate Applied Science Degree as a Medical Assistant from Bryant & Stratton College. She used her degree to help others as a Medical Assistant at University Hospitals, where she was known for her kindness, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to her patients.
Laura graduated in 1982 from Eastlake North High School, where she made many friends and was in the Marching Band, Riding Club, Student Council, Thespians, and was School Newspaper-Searchlight Feature Editor. She was also an active Girl Scout in Troop 309 all through her school years until she graduated in 1982.
Laura will be remembered for her generous heart, her quiet strength, and the many lives she touched throughout her years of service. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Memorial Service will be held on March 25, 2026 at 10:30 am at St Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St, Willowick, OH 44095.
