Leonard Rock's Obituary
Leonard Rock June 9, 1944 – May 16, 2025
Leonard Rock, 80, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of May 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born and raised in southwestern Pennsylvania, Leonard grew up in Masontown before moving to Ohio, where he worked as a machinist, raised his family, and eventually retired from General Electric. He was a man of quiet strength, deep devotion, and unwavering generosity. Leonard married his high school sweetheart, Linda Rock (Hotsinpiller), with whom he shared a lifelong love until her passing in 2006. Together, they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and unshakable loyalty. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Linda; his parents, Gail (Ziegler) and Sam Rock; and his brother, Don Rock. He is survived by his sister, Denise Rice (Ken); his daughters, Kristen Rock (Robert Suboticki) and Kim Rock; his cherished grandsons, Bill (Heather) and Sam Brown, and Alex and Eric Suboticki; and his great-grandchildren, Harley, Lenny, Georgia, and Kennedy. A gifted craftsman and lifelong outdoorsman, Leonard was an avid sportsman, deer hunter, and trapshooter. He could fix or build just about anything — and always did so with a humble heart and helping hands. To those who knew him, Leonard wasn’t just a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, or friend — he was the best of all of them. He gave everything he had to his family and never asked for anything in return. As his daughter Kristen shared, "I truly hit the parent lottery. I never wanted for anything and always felt like the luckiest girl in the world, having the parents I did." A gathering to celebrate Leonard’s life will be held on May 28, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Rd, North Olmsted, OH 44070. Visitation hours will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. While there will be no formal service, friends and family are encouraged to share their favorite memories of Leonard during a service that will be held from 2:00 to 2:30. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the teams at Cleveland Clinic at Home Palliative and Hospice Care and the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Justin T.
Rogers Hospice Care Center for the exceptional compassion, dignity, and comfort they provided during Leonard’s final weeks and days. Their support made it possible for him to be cared for with peace and grace, exactly as he wished. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in Leonard’s honor—fixing something for someone, teaching a kid to hunt, fish, or shoot, and spending as much time with family and friends as you can—because time is precious and life is short.
