Leroy Mathews' Obituary
Leroy “Matt” Mathews, Jr.,91 years young, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021 at his home. He was born on July 15, 1929 in Loveland, Ohio to the late Leroy Edward and Anne Marie (nee Boldenstein) Mathews, Sr. He proudly served in the US Army and retired from Ford Motor Company. Matt will be remembered fondly by his family for his generosity, loyalty, selflessness, and independence. Most importantly, he brought joy with his quick wit and great sense of humor to those who loved him best. He will be missed by his daughters Marti (David) Pytel and Pamela Mathews; grandsons Chris Pytel, Shawn (Amanda Copfer) Pytel, and Matt Pytel; treasured great-granddaughter Gabriella Pytel; and daughter-in-law Maureen Mathews. He was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Jane (nee Caldwell) Mathews and sons Keith Mathews and Michael Mathews. Graveside services with military honors will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, Section 44, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Senior Transportation Connection, 4735 W. 150th Street, Suite A, Cleveland, Ohio 44135.
