LISA LINGRUEN TAYLOR GILLILAND of Walton Hills, OH, passed away at Holy Family Hospice on September 23, 2013 at age 59 following a two year battle with multiple myeloma. Lisa is survived by her husband, Jim Gilliland, her sisters Therese Walnista and Nora Murphy, her former husband Tom Taylor, her son David Taylor and daughter Caroline Taylor, her grandsons Nathaniel and Roman Taylor, and her stepdaughters Laura, Sarah, and Jaimee Gilliland. Lisa attended high school in Willoughby, OH, then earned degrees at Ohio University and Cuyahoga Community College. She moved to Houston in 1981, then returned to Cleveland in 2010. Lisa’s life work was in the field of cancer research. As a cancer registrar, she prepared the data the research doctors use in studying this deadly disease. Lisa loved being active – swimming, biking, contra dancing, and other energetic activities gave her great pleasure. She was also an avid reader, readily losing herself in a good book. Lisa’s sweet smile and gentle demeanor will be missed by her husband, family, and her many friends in both Cleveland and Houston. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Saviour, 2537 Lee Rd, Cleveland Heights, OH on Saturday, October 5th at 2PM. In honor of Lisa’s life work in cancer research, donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or the American Cancer Society . Memorial webpages in Lisa’s honor can be found at either organization.
