Lydia J. Coleman's Obituary
Lydia J. Coleman, 77, entered her eternal rest on January 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on March 17, 1948, to the late Amos and Vada Crum, Lydia lived a life marked by faith, generosity, and a deep devotion to the people she cherished.
She was the beloved wife of the late Robert M. Coleman, Jr., and a devoted mother to David M. Coleman, Sr. (Starlet), Danny R. Coleman (deceased), Henry (deceased) Sanders (Tina), Kathy L. Capp (Dan), Debra K. Laboy (Miguel), and Robert K. Coleman (Candice). Lydia was a proud grandmother and great grandmother of many, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy. She was the loving sister of Clyde L. Crum and Kathy F. Garretson (Keith Jr., deceased), and a treasured aunt and friend to countless others.
Lydia’s faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted member of New Beginning Community Church in West Virginia, she carried her love for worship wherever she went, finding spiritual family in places such as Congregational Tabernacle Church and Higher Praise Tabernacle Church. As a minister, she poured her heart into preaching, singing, and celebrating life’s sacred moments—she even had the honor of officiating the weddings of her grandchildren, a role she cherished deeply.
Her passions were simple and full of warmth. Lydia loved baking treats to share, reading Christian books that strengthened her spirit, and savoring her favorite delight—ice cream. She found peace outdoors, especially in the sunshine, and enjoyed visiting parks where she could take in the beauty of God’s creation. Flowers held a special place in her heart, particularly Weeping Hearts, and she expressed that love through her work as the owner of Lydia’s Floral & Gift Gallery, where her creativity and kindness touched many.
Lydia’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering faith. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and joy that will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.
Her family and friends take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her and that her light will continue to shine through the many lives she touched.
Lydia’s visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Sunset Legacy Funeral Home, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH 44070, where her funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM.
