Lydia Lenz's Obituary
On the evening of February 24, 2025, Lydia Lenz passed away peacefully with her family present at the age of 90.
Born on February 18th in Ukraine to Anna and Gustav Rauser, Lydia lived a life as a proud and devoted mother, grandmother and friend to many and was known for her kindness, strength and resilience.
Lydia and her family came to America in 1953. Lydia married husband Jacob (Jack) Lenz in 1959, and gave birth to 3 children, Anita, Michael and Ron. Lydia was a devoted wife to Jack and unfortunately at the young age of 39, Jack was diagnosed with cancer and passed just a few short years later at age 41. At a time when it was not common for women to work outside of the home, Lydia started a successful drapery business and proceeded to raise her three children. Her business was so successful, she was able to pay for her children’s higher education.
She is survived by her children, Anita Hurd, Ron Lenz and Michael Lenz (Amy); Grandchildren Danielle Mayo (Matt), Jacob Lenz and Josie Lenz; Great Grandson’s Benny Mayo and Jack Mayo; her brothers Victor Rauser (the late Doris), Paul Rauser (Millie) and the late Walter Rauser (Terry). She also leaves behind a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.
Lydia was known as an incredible cook, making the best lasagna, stuffed cabbage and beef rouladen. In her later years she enjoyed entertaining and opening her door and dinner table to all, shopping and keeping a beautiful home.
