Margaret Mary "Micki" Maloney's Obituary
Margaret Mary “Micki” Maloney passed away on July 18, 2020, at her home in Westlake, OH, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born in Cleveland, OH, on April 22, 1935 to the late Mary Margaret nee (Scanlon) and John Francis Maloney. She was also predeceased by her brothers John E. Maloney and William C. Maloney.
She was the loving mother of Dr. Ryan Meredith (Karen), Pamela Stepnick (Dr. David), and Dr. Shannon Meredith-Martell (Rick). She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Logan and Jake Paul, Amanda Margaret and Caroline Grace Meredith, and Sydney and Taylor Meredith-Pickett. She is also survived by her long-time companion of many years, Charles E. Thayer, II.
She leaves behind her beloved sister in law, Patricia Jeric Maloney and nephew Don Maloney (Julie), and nieces, Terri Giorgi (Robin), and Debbie Green (Paul). She was also the beloved cousin of Patricia Duggan, Larry Duggan, Madge Mulhollan, and many other cousins who passed before her.
Micki graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1953. She then attended Ursuline College for two years.
She married the late Wilbur R. “Spike” Meredith, III, on October 22, 1960 and started a family. She went back to work at Tradin’ Times in Lakewood, OH in 1974, starting in the Production Dept. as a Clerk. She went on to become Branch Manager, and over a fantastic career of 24 years, eventually became the Regional VP of Landmark Telecommunications Network, Inc. She was an extremely hardworking, determined, accomplished businesswoman, all while raising her 3 children in Lakewood, OH. She was extremely proud of her children and their educational and career accomplishments.
Micki enjoyed spending time with her brother and best friend Bill Maloney, prior to his passing both on Catawba Island, and in Marblehead, OH. She loved boating, friends, dancing, older country music, jokes, cooking, and reading. She was known for her tireless energy, her spotless and beautiful homes, and for being the life of every party! She was 100% Irish American and very proud of her heritage. She lived exactly how you would expect an Irishwoman to live. Frank Sinatra’s song, “I Did it My Way” epitomizes our awesome Micki-mom!
