Maria Blam's Obituary
It is with great sadness and much love that the family of Maria Blam announces her peaceful passing on October 26th, 2023, at the age of 95. Beloved wife of Arnold (deceased), loving mother to Arnold (Martie), Norbert (Bonnie) and Christina (Mike). Cherished Nana of Annie, Thomas, Heidi, Mathew, Michelle, Kevin and Kristen (deceased). Beloved great grandmother of Fox, Remy and Gus. Dear friend to many in her community and church.
Our Nana was born in a small village outside of Munich, her family lived above a railway office as her father was a rail official. Her childhood was spent shoeless in Bavarian fields, playing with barn cats and sometimes picking hops. She endured the hardships of WWII from the same village, emerging from the war to find her true love, our Papa, at a village dance event. Shortly after the war she followed her true love to America, and fulfilled what most would call the American dream. She raised a family of 3 children, went boating, danced, camped, skied, and had a group of tightly knit friends. Later in life when Papa retired, they traveled the world extensively, mostly by cruise ship. If you added all the time, they spent on a cruise ship it surpassed a year of time.
Maria loved listening to music and dancing through her entire life and could be seen smiling, singing and dancing almost daily in her living room. Her most precious treasures in life were, Arnold, her family, dancing, gardening and chocolates. Her family will miss her dearly as she now has ascended into the heavens reunited and dancing on the clouds with her beloved Arnold and granddaughter Kristen. She will forever be remembered as our precious Nana and loving mother.
Friends and Family may gather on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Sunset Chapel (6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070). A Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 3, 2023, at Sunset's Westwood Abbey Mausoleum Chapel beginning at 12:00 noon.
