Maria Simulj's Obituary
. . .Fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul. Deuteronomy 10:12
Sister Maria “Baba” Simulj was ushered into Glory on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. She was surrounded by her family and had a peaceful passing from this life into life everlasting with Our Lord.
She was born on September 10, 1937, in Mramorak, Yugoslavia. As a family we immigrated to America in December 1969. We lived in New Jersey for four years, and then ultimately, made our home in Ohio. Mom and Dad, along with our eldest sister, Vickie, were baptized in Geraldine Avenue Church in 1974. Mom has served the Lord faithfully as a member of the Brunswick Hills Apostolic Christian Church Nazarean, for nearly 50 years.
Our Mom was a very hard worker. She had a beautiful garden and beautiful flowers. She loved to work with her hands, and we all have been blessed with a pair of her hand-knitted “Baba socks.” She and Dad worked full-time jobs and nurtured eight children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, with God’s help.
We were blessed with a precious Mom who left us a lasting and priceless legacy. From a very young age she taught us to Fear the Lord, and to Reverence Him. Her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have also benefited from the faithful example of putting God before all things, reading His Word, along with an unwavering faithful commitment to church attendance and service.
As her children, we recall seeing both Mom and Dad on their knees, heads bowed, hands folded, praying for us. In humility, we thank the Lord for such a blessed and rich heritage. To God be the Glory.
Visitation is Friday, October 13, 2023, from 12-1:30 PM at the Westwood Abbey Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, where the funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM.
