Marianne Elizabeth Legeza's Obituary
Marianne Elizabeth Legeza, a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away on September 26, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born in Cleveland on January 10, 1938, Marianne embraced life with curiosity, elegance, and a deep love for beauty in all its forms. She held many roles throughout her life, including musician, artist, cook, and realtor. But none brought her more joy than being a proud homemaker and nurturing her family with warmth and care.
As a classically trained pianist, Marianne performed in concerts alongside her beloved husband, Tamás (Thomas), sharing their music with heartfelt harmony. She loved accompanying her children and others in their musical performances.
Her artistic journey began with oil painting and evolved into a passion for watercolor, where she became known for her exquisite pet portraits that reflected her deep affection for animals. She shared her love for art with the Greenbriar Art League and displayed many of her works at art shows across the region.
Her culinary talents were remarkable. She was a gourmet cook who meticulously followed recipes. With her close friends, a gourmet food club was formed that lasted over 60 years.
Her love of nature, travel, and adventure led her and her family to explore over 80 national parks across the country. They were always camping, creating lasting memories. Marianne’s fascination with the cosmos extended to her membership in the Astronomers Club, where she found wonder in the night sky.
Marianne was also a lifelong member of the Magyar (Hungarian) Club, where she celebrated her heritage with pride. She was an avid seamstress, lovingly tailoring clothes for her children with precision and flair. A passionate gardener and interior decorator at heart, Marianne constantly transformed her home with an eye for elegance and comfort, making every space a reflection of her spirit.
Marianne’s life story is captured in Barbara Pennington’s “Extraordinary Women From an Ordinary Place.” This is a photographic story of local women, each one extraordinary in their powerful life choices.
Marianne was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie Urban, her loving husband, Tamás (Thomas), and her daughter-in-law, Jina. She is survived by her children: Adrienne (Doug), Paul (late Jina), Thomas (Kelley), Suzanne, and Karen (Jobie); and her grandchildren: Aaron, Jonathan, Scott, Thomas, and Bianca. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her, through the music she played, the art she created, the meals she prepared, and the love she gave so generously.
A visitation will be held on October 11, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, 44070. A service will start immediately at 12:00 pm.
